The Communications Security Establishment Canada’s 80th anniversary

CSE's 80th anniversary logo

Since 1946, the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSE) has quietly protected Canada, working behind the scenes to safeguard our country from emerging global threats, from the early days of the Cold War to today’s evolving cyber landscape.

As Canada’s national authority for cyber defence and foreign signals intelligence, CSE is home to the country’s code makers and code breakers. Our experts help keep government and critical infrastructure systems secure and provide critical intelligence to protect Canadians at home and abroad. CSE also provides technical and operational assistance to federal law enforcement, the Canadian Armed Forces and security agencies.

“Global uncertainty and rapid technological innovation are reshaping the security landscape, making our mission more critical than ever. Thanks to the foundation we’ve built together, CSE is prepared to confront these complexities and uphold our commitment to protect Canadians.”

Chief Caroline Xavier

Much has changed in 80 years, but our mission is unwavering. CSE stands guard for Canada, always alert, adapting and working diligently to remain one step ahead of global threats.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (Cyber Centre)

Launched in 2018, the Cyber Centre is Canada’s unified source of expert cyber advice, guidance and services. Working with partners across government, industry and academia, it helps defend the country’s most important systems and supports Canadians in staying safe online.
