Fraudsters are calling members of the public and claiming to be from the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSE) and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (Cyber Centre). In some cases, CSE’s media relations phone number appears on the caller ID.
We do not contact the public by phone without cause.
If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from either CSE or the Cyber Centre, do not engage with the caller.
How to protect yourself:
- do not share any personal or sensitive information
- hang up the call
- use official channels to verify the information
Who to contact
To report a suspicious call, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website: Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
If you have already shared personal information, contact your local police service.
