EMSEC and TEMPEST

Emissions security (EMSEC) is only one component of a series of possible security controls that can be used to safeguard protected and classified data.   CSE provides best practices and guidance for Government of Canada departments and agencies for EMSEC facility evaluations and identifying appropriate EMSEC security controls.  TEMPEST-certified equipment is one of many EMSEC safeguards.  CSE provides guidelines for using TEMPEST-certified equipment and manages the Canadian Industrial TEMPEST Program (CITP).

Under the CITP, Canadian-based firms that wish to manufacture, test and support TEMPEST equipment for the Government of Canada must have a formal agreement with CSE. The table below provides a list of Canadian companies that are compliant to CITP requirements.

For more information, please contact the CITP Manager at 613-991-7969 or CITP@cse-cst.gc.ca.

NOTE: To find out more about equipment that uses encryption for the storage or transmission of PROTECTED C or CLASSIFIED information contact: COMSEC Client Services (CCS) at 613-991-8495 or comsecclientservices@cse-cst.gc.ca
