Cyber Threat Evaluation Centre (CTEC)

The Cyber Threat Evaluation Centre (CTEC) is a cyber defence analysis unit within CSE's IT Security branch, responsible for the detection, analysis, and assessment of cyber threat activity on nationally important networks, such as those of the Government of Canada (GC). This group, composed of technical and analytical specialists, uses leading edge capabilities and expertise to examine constantly growing and evolving cyber threats to these important systems.

CTEC monitors cyber threat activity on federal government networks and enables CSE's partners to better defend their networks and respond to cyber incidents by providing them with reporting and other information products pertaining to cyber incidents and cyber threats. This is done in close collaboration with other Canadian cyber coordination centres, including the Canadian Cyber Incident Response Center and the Shared Services Canada Computer Incident Response Team. CTEC also partners closely with other agencies in the Canadian security and intelligence community, including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Department of National Defence/ Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Treasury Board Secretariat Chief Information Officer Branch.
