230 - COMSEC Account Management Course (GC)

Learners will be introduced to the various duties required of COMSEC custodians as well as the IT Security Directive for the Control of COMSEC Material in the Government of Canada (ITSD-03A). This training will assist in developing the required skills and knowledge needed to perform the critical activities required of COMSEC custodians when handling COMSEC material.

This course highlights the management of Accountable COMSEC Material (ACM) throughout its lifecycle, the reports required for issuing, transferring and destroying ACM and ordering cryptographic key to name just a few.

IMPORTANT NOTEAs a result of the recent distribution of publications ITSD-04A and ITSD-09, the ITSLC has amended course 230 by removing the key ordering component and offering a new course titled 233 - Cryptographic Key Management & Ordering which is a mandatory course for those who wish to complete the COMSEC Management Certification Program (CMCP).  When registering on course 230 - COMSEC Account Management Course, you are now also required to register on course 233.  The 233 course is applicable to Federal Government personnel only. COMSEC Custodians from private sector companies do not order keys, and as such are not required to attend course 233.

Participants must successfully complete a final exam for official certification. (Passing grade = 75%)
