Recruitment
The Tutte Institute for Mathematics and Computing (TIMC) team is comprised of some of the best and the brightest minds in the fields of mathematics, computer science and engineering. The institute is actively recruiting research experts and post-doctoral fellows in these fields to work on solving complex mathematical and computational problems in support of the Canadian security and intelligence community and its international partners.
Why work for the TIMC?
The work is challenging but meaningful. TIMC researchers are making a difference: tackling real-world problems in the unique fields of mathematical and computational research, and helping protect the lives of Canadians and of our Allies.
The institute's research is highly classified and technologically advanced, and is conducted in an Advanced Collaborative Environment (ACE) comprised of a network of distinguished field experts- the best of the best. The TIMC facility is state-of-the-art and equipped with cutting edge tools and technologies.
Additionally, the TIMC offers a competitive salary, flexible employment options and attractive benefits.
Requirements
Due to the highly classified nature of the work, in order to work for the TIMC applicants must hold Canadian citizenship and be eligible for a Top Secret Security Clearance.
The process for obtaining a Top Secret Security Clearance includes:
- A credit and criminal record check;
- An initial interview;
- A polygraph examination; and
- A psychological assessment.
Once hired, researchers begin with a short-term contract. This will typically be for a period of one week to ten days, and serves as a probationary period.
Work Options
TIMC researchers have various employment options open to them. For instance, if an individual is coming from a staff position at a university, they may elect to have their compensation converted to a research grant administered by their university. They may also elect to use the Interchange Program which allows for long-term secondment from their university to the TIMC.
