The Programs of Study have been developed to offer an innovative approach to professional development in the field of Information Technology (IT) Security.
Each role-based program is a series of complementary courses that follow a logical progression to present a comprehensive view of larger IT Security issues, processes and program elements. The content and sequence of the courses for each program are based on job-related tasks that an employee must be able to execute.

The four programs
The IT Security Learning Centre is offering four Programs of Study in IT Security:
- COMSEC Operations: Designed for COMSEC custodians, the program offers an in-depth knowledge of the policies and procedures necessary to efficiently manage a departmental COMSEC account;
- Security in Information System Design (SISD): Developed for system designers, architects and project managers, the program outlines a comprehensive process for translating the Policy on Government Security and functional requirements into cost-effective solutions;
- Security in Information System Management (SISM): Designed for IT Security managers and supervisors, the program provides participants with the necessary tools to apply the Policy on Government Security to their organization IT Security program;
- Security in Information System Operation (SISO): Developed for systems administrators and IT Security practitioners, the program offers a detailed examination of essential processes and procedures to maintain system safeguards and respond to IT Security incidents.
Time allowed for completion of a program
All the courses in a program of study must be completed within a three-year period in order for a candidate to be admitted to the final exam.
Final Exam
An exam is administered once all the core and elective courses have been completed within the prescribed time limit. Upon successful completion of the exam, a diploma is awarded.
