Cryptomaterial Ordering and Privilege Management
The implementation of GC EKMS provides the opportunity to automate and modernize COMSEC material management. The greatest impact to the client is the ability to generate and distribute electronic key locally. There exists, however, cryptographic keying material that is available only from the CCF.
The CCF consists of specialized key ordering, generation, production and distribution systems, which are capable of generating, and producing national and NATO key in electronic format, physical format, or dual media format. The CMAC is the first point of contact for key ordering and privilege management.
In order for an account to request keying material generation from the CCF, the account's key ordering privileges must be registered. COMSEC accounts can establish key ordering privileges by sending a Privilege Establishment Request (PER) to the CMAC. Once a PER is approved by the CMAC, key orders can be submitted to the CMAC electronically from automated and partially automated accounts or on paper from non-automated accounts.
CMAC Cryptomaterial Requirements responsibilities include:
- assisting clients in determining cryptomaterial requirements and assisting clients in processing the requirements;
- scheduling and coordinating the generation, production and distribution of key material;
- acting as User Representative for foreign key orders;
- approving or rejecting Privilege Establishment Requests and approving or rejecting the production of Traditional, STU-III, Secure Data Network System and Message Signature Key orders at the CCF.
