The Sterling Commerce Incorporated, Gentran Integration Suite v4.2 was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed on 1 May 2007.
The evaluation of the Gentran Integration Suite determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 2 augmented, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target. The augmentation consisted of ALC_FLR.1 (Basic Flaw Remediation).
The Gentran Integration Suite v4.2 allows organizations to facilitate business to business communications across a wide range of protocols. The product allows a business to communicate with all its business partners despite the fact that partners may use different languages, communications protocols and heterogeneous document formats. The product also includes a mailbox service for trading partners that provides store-and-forward capabilities. The product ensures that these communications are secure by providing robust, independently validated implementations of security protocols and by protecting access to the received information.
The evaluated configuration of the Gentran Integration Suite v4.2 operated on a SUN Solaris 10 / SPARC 32 server. A comprehensive set of user and administrator documentation is provided with the product. This documentation includes detailed instructions describing the installation and configuration of the software.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the Gentran Integration Suite, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the Gentran Integration Suite satisfies its IT security requirements. Consumers are advised to verify that their operating environment is consistent with the security target, and to give due consideration to the recommendations stated in the certification report.
