The SonicWALL, Inc. SonicOS v5.0.1 on NSA Series and TZ Series Appliances (hereafter referred to as SonicOS v5.0.1), from SonicWALL Inc., was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, Ltd., Ottawa, Canada. The evaluation was completed on May 16th, 2008.
The evaluation of SonicOS v5.0.1 determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 4 augmented with ALC_FLR.1, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
SonicOS v5.0.1 on NSA Series and TZ Series Appliances is custom software running on purpose built hardware platforms. The SonicOS v5.0.1 provides firewall, Unified Threat Management (UTM), Virtual Private Networking (VPN), and traffic management capabilities. The evaluated configuration consists of SonicOS v5.0.1 operating on the following appliances: TZ180, TZ180W, TZ190, TZ190W, NSA 3500, NSA 4500, NSA 5000, NSA E5500, NSA E6500, and NSA E7500. The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for SonicOS v5.0.1, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the SonicOS v5.0.1 satisfies its IT security requirements.
