The Proofpoint Protection Server® v5.0.4, hereafter referred to as PPS v5.0.4, was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, Ottawa, Canada. The evaluation was completed in September 2008.
The evaluation of PPS v5.0.4 determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, at an assurance level of EAL 2 augmented with ALC_FLR.1, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
PPS v5.0.4 is perimeter email gateway software that integrates virus protection, spam detection, regulatory compliance, and digital asset protection into a comprehensive message management solution. PPS v5.0.4 is designed to defend an Information Technology (IT) environment from internal and external email-based threats by scanning all inbound and outbound emails for spam, viruses, connection-level attacks, prohibited text, and other user-definable data. PPS v5.0.4 ensures that email complies with various regulations, protects the privacy and security of data, and prevents the loss of intellectual property and trade secrets.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for PPS v5.0.4, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that PPS v5.0.4 satisfies its IT security requirements.
