Network Instruments® GigaStor 14.1™, hereafter referred to as NI GigaStor 14.1, from Network Instruments, was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed in August 2011.
The evaluation of NI GigaStor 14.1 determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 2 augmented with ALC_FLR.1, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
NI GigaStor 14.1 comprises the hardware appliances Gigastor, Gigastor Expandable, and Gigastor Portable and the control and analysis application Observer Expert Console that is installed by the consumer on a separate workstation. NI GigaStor 14.1 connects to a network tap or switch port mirror. Network traffic is captured and stored to a high-capacity RAID array for analysis. Users may define traffic conditions that if met, trigger an alarm.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for NI GigaStor 14.1, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that NI GigaStor 14.1 satisfies its IT security requirements.
Consumers are advised to carefully review the certification report to gain an understanding of the security functionality, the evaluated configuration, and the intended operating environment for NI GigaStor 14.1.
