The NIKSUN®, Inc. NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005 appliance was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at Electronic Warfare Associates-Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed on 03 March 2005.
The evaluation of the NIKSUN®, Inc. NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005 determined that this Information Technology (IT) product is trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 2, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
The NIKSUN®, Inc. NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005 appliance is a non-intrusive network surveillance system that provides the capability to record and analyze traffic streams at high data rates to detect and report on anomalous activities and patterns indicative of security or performance incidents in near real-time or post-event.
The evaluated configuration consists of the following:
- NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005 build 3.1sp2_3 software
running on either
- A 2U IBM xSeries 345 Dual 2.4 GHz XEON Processor 4 X 73 GB SCSI drives 2 GB RAM with dual port FastE NIC
or
- A 2U Intel Server SE7500WV2 M.B 2GB RAM Dual P3 XEON CPU 4 X 73 GB HDD with dual port FastE NIC
All network services except HTTPS are disabled.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the NIKSUN®, Inc. NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the NIKSUN®, Inc. NetDetector®/NetVCR® 2005 satisfies its IT security requirements. Consumers are advised to verify that their operating environment is consistent with the security target.
