EMC® VNX OE for Block v5.31 with Unisphere™ v7.0 running on VNX Series Hardware Model VNX5100™ and EMC® VNX OE for File v7.0 and VNX OE for Block v5.31 with Unisphere™ v7.0 running on VNX Series Hardware Models VNX5300™, VNX5500™, VNX5700™, and VNX7500™ (hereafter referred to as EMC® VNX OE) was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed on 30 May 2011.

The evaluation of EMC® VNX OE determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 3 augmented with ALC_FLR.2, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.

EMC® VNX OE is a combination File Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Block Storage Area Network (SAN) operating environment with Unified Management (Unisphere). It includes a Storage Operating Environment (SOE), which provides Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) and storage provisioning capabilities, one or more NAS servers that allow Local Area Network (LAN) clients to connect and use internal storage, and a set of interfaces administrators can use to manage the TOE and access controls for internal storage.

The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the EMC® VNX OE, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the EMC® VNX OE satisfies its IT security requirements.

Consumers are advised to carefully review the certification report to gain an understanding of the security functionality, the evaluated configuration, and the intended operating environment for EMC® VNX OE.
