EMC® VNXe Operating Environment v2.0 with Unisphere™ running on VNXe Series hardware models VNXe3300 and VNXe3100 (hereafter referred to as VNXe OE) was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed in July 2011.
The evaluation of VNXe OE determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 3 augmented with ALC_FLR.2, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
The software-only TOE provides Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) storage architectures, fault detection, isolation and diagnosis capabilities. The TOE also enables the use of virtual storage elements and provides Network Attached Storage (NAS) services that allow hosts on an IP network to access file systems via one of the supported file-based protocols, namely Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS).
The TOE is managed using the Unisphere GUI.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the VNXe OE, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the VNXe OE satisfies its IT security requirements.
Consumers are advised to carefully review the certification report to gain an understanding of the security functionality, the evaluated configuration, and the intended operating environment for VNXe OE.
