EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24 was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWACanada, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The evaluation was completed on 24 August 2007.
The evaluation of the EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24 determined that this Information Technology (IT) product can be trusted, to an assurance level of EAL 2 augmented, to conform to the requirements of the associated security target. The augmentation consisted of the ALC_FLR.1 (Basic flaw remediation).
The EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24 is a data storage system designed to provide managed storage on a Storage Area Network (SAN). It includes a Storage Operating Environment providing Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) and virtual storage capability, as well as an interface by which it can be administered and managed. The EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24 allows an organization to manage its storage needs separately from its application servers. This allows greater control over storage allocation, fault tolerance, and backups versus storage that is directly attached to individual application servers. In a typical deployment scenario, individual application servers are attached to a SAN through a Fibre Channel switch. These application servers are then configured to use storage on the CLARiiON®, in the form of Logical Units, as storage for their applications.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24, the IT security requirements to be met, and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that the EMC® CLARiiON® FLARE v3.24 with Navisphere v6.24 satisfies its IT security requirements.
