Certified Products

A certified product is one that a recognized Certification Body asserts as having been evaluated by a laboratory competent in the field of IT security evaluation to the requirements of the Common Criteria and Common Evaluations Methodology for Information Technology Security Evaluation.

A Common Criteria certificate must always be accompanied by a certification report, which contains important information about the evaluation as well as information about using the product securely. It is must also be accompanied by a Security Target, which provides detailed information on the evaluated security properties of the product.

The Communications Security Establishment Canada is a signatory of the Arrangement on the recognition of Common Criteria Certificates (CCRA). This means that certificates awarded by the CCS are also recognized by the other signatories of the CCRA - and vice versa.
