The CA Spectrum Network Fault Manager r9.0 SP1 (hereafter referred to as Spectrum) was the subject of a Common Criteria evaluation performed by the Common Criteria Evaluation Facility at EWA-Canada, Ottawa, Canada. The evaluation was completed in September 2009.
The evaluation of Spectrum determined that this Information technology (IT) product can be trusted to an evaluation assurance level (EAL) 2 to conform to the requirements of the associated security target.
Spectrum monitors the state of managed elements, including devices, host systems and connections. Status information such a fault and performance data from these elements is collected and stored. Spectrum analyzes this information to track conditions within the network that it monitors. If an abnormal condition is detected, the event is analyzed and appropriate users are alerted. Spectrum presents users with possible causes and potential solutions for the problem.
The evaluated configuration of the Spectrum software consists of a Spectrum Host and a Spectrum Client each of which can run either the Windows 2003 Server SP2 or the Solaris 10 operating systems. The Spectrum Client runs the OneClick Console software which provides remote access to the Spectrum Host. The Spectrum Host runs the server and database applications which implement the network fault management functionality.
The scope of this evaluation is defined by the security target, which identifies assumptions made during the evaluation, the intended environment for the Spectrum, the IT security requirements to be met and the level of confidence (evaluation assurance level) to which it is asserted that Spectrum satisfies its IT security requirements.
Consumers are advised to carefully review the certification report to gain an understanding of the security functionality, the tested configurations and the intended operating environment of the Spectrum.
