Privacy Notice

The Government of Canada and Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) are committed to providing visitors with web sites that respect their privacy. This page summarizes some aspects of the application of the Privacy Act and related practices on the CSEC web site.

The CSEC web site does not automatically gather any specific personal information from you, such as your name, phone number or e-mail address.

CSEC does not use "cookies" to track how our visitors use this site or to determine sites previously visited. (A "cookie" is a file that may be placed on your hard drive without your knowledge by a web site to allow it to monitor your use of the site.)

CSEC employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

CSEC employs a fully automated Anti-Spam filter to protect its employees and networks from spam. Incoming e-mail messages that are flagged by the software as spam are deleted automatically without notification.

The anti-spam software blocks e-mails that are considered obvious spam because of their content (for example, pornographic, racist, get-rich-quick schemes, junk commercial solicitations) as determined by general industry best practices.

Questions or comments regarding this notice, or the administration of the Privacy Act at CSEC may be directed to the Director, Public Affairs and Communications Services by e-mail at: public.affairs-affaires.publiques@cse-cst.gc.ca, by calling 613-991-8358 or writing to:

Mr. Jean Plamondon
