Cohort Hiring

Realizing that most employees coming to the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) know very little about the organization, CSEC has instituted a cohort hiring process to provide new hires with an in-depth understanding of the organization and facilitate their integration.

A Sense of Belonging

New employees commence employment on pre-defined cohort intake dates and as a group, will move through the corporate orientation program before being assigned to their team. The cohort hiring process allows new employees to form organization-wide lasting relationships that will be beneficial in their career.

On the first day…

You will start CSEC's Employee Orientation Program called the Foundational Learning Curriculum (FLC). This 6-day course provides a comprehensive baseline knowledge and information on all aspects of CSEC's business, programs and services.

This unique curriculum exposes new employees to all areas of the organization through a series of presentations and workshops. Learning about CSEC's security and intelligence mandate, the policies that govern its activities as well as details on its programs and services is critical for employees to achieve success in their work at CSEC. A Services Fair is included in the FLC to introduce new employees to key services available to support them in their work.

Following the completion of the FLC, employees join their respective team.

Scheduled Dates

Cohort intakes are scheduled six times a year. Dates have been predetermined and will be communicated to successful candidates by Human Resources.
